whats your point in continuing to post this useless crap Art??? we all know that sales are down across the board, this due to a poor economy. its old news, not going anywhere for a while. quit the gloom and doom already. we can all find this news in our faces without having it on FTE as well!!!
yeah, Artsbest likes to post this stuff all the time and also what the other manufacturers are doing too. Art, when are you going to actually going to go out and buy a truck and help contribute to the sales total???
Ford Motor Co. says its April sales fell 32 percent, but the company gained market share on record retail sales of its midsize Ford Fusion.
Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford sold 133,979 light-vehicles in April, compared with 195,665 for the same month last year. Sales rose from March to April, with Ford selling 2,878 more cars.
Ford says it sold a record number of Fusions, as the company rolled out its 2010 gas and hybrid versions of the car.
The company said April marked the sixth time in seven months that it gained retail market share.
Uhhhh......no. People aren't buying because they either don't have a secure job, or they aren't comfortable spending money right now, along with an endless list of other factors. Bigger incentives might improve sales numbers slightly, but not much in this environment.
Tell me. If you were Ford, would you rather sell 30,000 trucks making $5k a piece, or 40,000 trucks making $1,000 a piece, or 50,000 trucks losing $1,000 a piece?
Actually, the drop in truck sales is not that bad if you look at month/month sales, where they are increasing and gaining market share. Furthermore, Fusion sales have been great (up 21.7 percent). We all know people aren't buying cars, and GM and Chrysler troubles are far worse (even though they offer huge incentives). However, Ford issued a decent earnings report recently and, in particularly, a surprisingly large reduction in cash burn rate. Hence, they are well positioned when the economy turns around. I wouldn't want to be the owner of a new RAM right now, wondering where I might be taking it for service in the future. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the new Fiat/Chrysler discontinue trucks and large SUVs all together.
There was a guy who works in a local sideing company on the phone to the dealership trying to return his 09 ram today. The dealer promised him that things wouldnt change if they went under or not and now he heard on news his truck price is gonna crash and the dealership may be closeing down due to very low sales. I said didnt you think about that before you bought it and he said that he didnt care as the price was good lol. Then i said well you get what ya pay for.

I might buy a chevy or dodge pickup if it was half price or less. Even if they bottom out it is not like that machinery is going to evaporate overnight. To much tooling in those companies for some other company not to pick them up for pennies on the dollar. Should it be us, the taxpayer, no.
Ford sold more cars last April than Toyota. I think Toyotas are getting uglier and uglier. Specially the interiors. They sell a lot of cars base on quality and customer satisfaction. If Ford keep improving the will beat Toyota and WV in a short time.
I own a Ford F-150. As for those who have problems with my data updates? I deal with facts. As for Ford and its appearance of being financially stronger? Chances are they'll be forced to seek BK too or risk ceding a major cost advantage to competitors operating under court supervision. $35/hr vs $14 ain't going to get it.
^ok good for you and your facts. but this is the "09 F150" forum. Go post your facts in the "general discussion" forum.
you own a F150 but is it an 09? From your posts before complaining about the rebates, you seemed to want the manufacturers to come out with like $20k in rebates before you were ready to buy.
