Well unfortunately my truck got towed last night. Apparently I was parked in an area that required and window decal to park and I didn't know it. It was my buddies apartment complex, and every time I go there, I park in the exact same spot that I was parked in last night. I have never had any problems until last night. So around 11:30, I step out of his apartment to answer the phone and see a tow truck backing up to my bumper. I immediately run down to the truck and say whoa buddy what are u towing me for. The guy responds with "cause your truck is the only vehicle in the parking lot without a decal". I know he was lieing. Well anyways after I talk with the guy he tells me that he already has it on record and has to take it to the impound lot and that it would be $125 to get it out. I say alright Ill be down there in 10 minutes to pick it up.( at this point there wasn't anything I could do to make him not tow it) I stick around and watch him hook it up and then he starts to try to drive off and can't make the turn. I say doesn't look like your gonna get it out anyway. The guy tells me "oh I'll get it out." After about 30 mins of watching I turn around and start to walk inside to get a ride out to the impound lot, when CRUNNNCH. I turn around and see that there is luckily no damage to my truck, but the entire front fender is ripped off of my buddy's girlfriend's car. This guy basically rolled the front tire of my truck over her hood. It mashed her car up pretty bad. I would say probably about $1000 in damage, but luckily nothing happened to mine. After I realised that there was no damage done to my truck I went back up the stairs to tell Ashley(my buddy's girlfriend) that her car had been hit. When we got down stairs I looked at the tow truck driver with a big smirk and said "Told ya, you wouldn't get it out" Needless to say, my truck is fine, I got out of $125 charge, Ashley's car is destroyed, and the wrecker service now has to pay for all of the repairs on it all because of one ******* tow truck driver.
Sounds like the tow truck driver got what was he deserved! But yeah, sounds like you handled it better then I would have also. Some people are just idiots.....
That 125 aint nuthin compared to the idiot possibly losing his job or being responsible for that damage!
I dealt a lot with towing companies when I worked in Richmond. Once its up in the air it usually costs 1/2 the full price to let it down, but they do let you down. Always get a receipt so they cant just pocket the money! Ive only seen my truck on a tow truck 1 time and it was heartbreaking! lol
here in SoBe, if they hook it and lift it, the only way to get it down is with the supervisors sending an electronic release code to the wrecker, or back from the year. The operators have no way of releasing it onces its up and hooked.
I got out of being towed when they couldn't find a wrecker big enough to hook mine and get it out of a public yard. They took the tag and installed a red tag on the truck.
Back a bunch a years ago my wifes car got towed from my apartment. We hoped in my lifted yota and had it floored (just a 4 cyl) through the complex to catch up to the tow truck with my wifes car. Im not a big guy but the big maglight in my had worked, LOL. I stopped the driver and he and I were argueing. Then things calmed down when he realized I wasnt going to back off and he eventually gave in and gave the car back.
Glad to hear the driver got a taste of his own medicine, it kinda makes me feel good, LOL
People like that get what they deserve about like cops who abuse there powers and get on a power trip hate to hear about her truck but atleast the truck is okay. Where else do they expect visitors to park i mean come on cash cowing SOBs.
