steering binding
Got a 95 f250 4x4 and it seems when I make turns the steering binds in that direction. See no play on the tie rods or ball joints. I greased them and it still seems the same. It almost put me in a ditch.

Axle u joints is my bet, jack up the front of the truck turn the steering wheel to full left or right, lock in the hub and try to turn the wheel. If its a faulty u joint it will be resistant to get a full revolution of the tire

I had somewhat of a similar problem though it was not a 4WD and it would not lock up to the point that I could not just turn the back to nuetral. My 90 f250 developed a tendancy one day that when I let go of the wheel after executing a sharp turn it would not return to center by itself. I could manually do it but I did not like the uneasy feeling it gave me. Replacing the steering box solved the problem. Good luck identifing your issue.
