Possible issue while starting

When I start the truck up first thing in the morning I get a brief puff of white smoke, which I believe is normal, and what sound like the turbo making one knocking noise about 4-5 seconds after firing up. I am new to diesels and am curious if this is something to worry about. By the way, I have a 03 f350, 67000 miles, 6.0, no mods. All filters and oil change about 1500 miles ago using ford parts.

The knock you hear could easily be the AC/ventilation damper thumping as vacuum is applied to it when the truck is started. This thump has disturbed many a SD owner until they knew what it was.

Could be a good possibility lou. With the weather warming up I am now running the a/c a bit. I bought the truck in early march and havent run it other than testing it out while on the test drives.

Mine does the same, makes the wife jump a bit, my hearing not as good (do hear it and knew it was a vacuum actuated door of some sort but always say "what, I didn't hear anythng!")
