Hly 1850 Rebuildable???

Not an authority on carburetors by no means; recently rebuilt Hly 1850 and getting lot more familiar with it than I would like. It's running fine thru the acceleration stages its a matter of dialing-in the idle adjustment and mixture. In meantime, purchased another Hly 1850 to rebuild, long story, and when it arrived today I noticed there's a small piece missing on what I believe is referred to as the secondary mixture air horn. Got it fairly cheap, no mention of the missing piece in the item description and pic's not that great to determine if preexisted so not sure if returnable. Anyhow, considering taking mini grinder and smooth out and contour broken area close to original as possible. My question is since it concernes the vacuum secondarys would the broken section have any influence so can it be repaired and is the carb. rebuildable. Any opinions or suggestions appreciated, thank you!

Thats just the vent for your secondary fuel bowl, smooth it up and do as you
want with it!

Since posting, went on Ebay and browsed the Hly 1850 series carburetors and noticed there were a few of the earlier series where the primary and secondary mixture inlets were just a round tube and lengths varied. Figured what the heck, took a mini grinder and a find file and it cleaned up nicely. Disassemble yesterday and it's now bathing in carb cleaner, expect to reassemble today or tomorrow. Really appreciate the input, found it reassuring and confirm my notion rebuilding is not a waste of time.

It's just a vapor vent, you can shape it however you like just don't block it off

Not sure where I got the notion it was part of the secondary air mixture oriface and the length of the tube was critical. See, what do I know, cleaned up the rough edges and pleased with results it's just the vapor vent is now little shorter. Appreciate the information, thanks!!
