There is a smokin' deal on a Hypertech Power Programmer III near me, and before I jump on it, I want to make sure I can/can't use it. There are actually two, from two different sellers. One lists it for Ford 4.6L/5.4L engines, and the other lists it for '97 F-Series/SUV's, which were either 2V 4.6's or 5.4's. Will this programmer work for my 2002 F250 5.4L 2V? From what I understand the 5.4L was unchanged in the F-Series trucks from 1997-2004.
I not sure but I thought someone the other day said that the 5.4 in 150's switched to 3v a year or tow earlier than they did in 250's?
I would definately call Hypertech and ask what the correct part number is for your truck and then see if what the dealers are trying to sell you match it.
You have to watch the tuners. Older hypertech PPP worked on very small app ranges. At one time, they had a different box for each year. The 3v change was 2005, the 02 has a 2v motor.
IIRC the 3V made its premier in the 04 F150. And the only other change I can think of in terms of motor changes from the 2V premier to its end are PI heads?

The only support/words Hypertech was willing to offer me when I asked if it would work was "Probably not. We don't offer support for used products anyways. Thanks for calling." That was literally exactly what they said to me.
Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. Is the deal good enough to take a chance on??
I know when I got mine off of ebay I bought a Superchip for $40.00, but the person selling it didn't know for sure if it was vehicle unlocked or not. So I took a chance and got lucky and it was and I have not had a single problem with it in 2 years.
