Door Won't Release

The door release mechanism (what the interior door handle is bolted to) is so worn where the pin pivots I can no longer pull the cable far enough to release the door lock. Parts stores sell this in the Help section, but not for our trucks. Anybody had this problem? Replacement part from Ford is $95, ridculous.

Minw was worn I tightened the cable by twisting it up tighter then reinstalling.
If yours is worn as bad as you say then a new or user from a salvage yard may be your next step.

yes, do not let this go for a long time. i kept procrastinating when my door handle got tight. come to find out, mine did the same thing yours did. but because i waited, it cracked the sheet metal of the door. had to weld a repair sheet on top. went to a junk yard and picked up another cable and "block" i call it. spray with lube before installing good luck brother

I placed a 1/4-20 2 inch bolt behind the head of the cable. Works perfectly. Anyone else shim theirs like this?

I did this on one of my past vehicles dunno if it will work on this one or not, since I haven’t been inside my panels. I drilled two holes in a strip of flat bar and bent the bar in the middle of the two holes then ran the cable through it to take up the slack.
