Hi guys, I,m new to this forum, had read a number of problems others has had, sounds like a good site.
My problem is real, I recently bought a 2004 Ford super duty,E450, its got a 25 ft motor home on it, we really like it. I was gonna put a back up camera on it, come to find the lights do not work. Some folks say there may be a switch on the steering column, yet others say it may be on the transmission. the parts houses only want to sell parts and are no help, Ford wants to sell trucks , service wants service, I,ve read a lot of your advises and you use a lot of abbreviations, don,t mean any thing, Like MLPS switch,PRNDL switch, DTR sensor, Sorry don,t know what any of those are and what they do.
Sorry to be a pain, This device on the transmission has eleven pins, if this could be the problem area, what is the circuitity. I know I,m lacking in this area but I,m a retired A/C men and can read circuits if they at least show the contacts and their position. Oh , the bulbs are alright.
I will appreciate all help and will keep you posted, thanking you in advance Perky99
Prob the MLPS on the side of the tranny. They used to call it the neutral safety switch. Re-adjust it. (BTW, PRNDL means the position of the gearshift...Park, reverse, etc.)
Thanks Bud, happen to know the circuititry, parts house did say no exchange on electrical items,or do you think if I went from ground to terminal eleven that would make a circuit and have lites.that way I,d know there,s not a problem before that.Perky99
Bud, Thanks for your input about my back up lights, It finally come down to the relay under the hood, in the fuse box compartment, it was damaged, not burnt out, must have been handled rough, Terminal # 11 on safty switch sends power to the relay. Thanks
