I have a 2.75rear axle single traction I need to convert to a 3.73positive traction. Would I need a whole different rear or can I get this done using the housing I have? I am installing a high HP 393 stroker and this change. Thanks:-staun
You will need different gears and carrier. Also replace all bearings/seals.
The housing, pumpkin, and axles can be reused.
As you have a 9" you may just want to look for a pumpkin with correct gears and positrac already installed, and buy/install the whole thing. It'd save you some hassle. Just make sure you get the correct number of splines for your axles.
