first post... Bought this 78 F250 4x4 that's been sittin' under a tree for 3 yrs., brought the 400 back to life and drove it ten miles home. It has a C6,don't know what transfer but the shift lever says "lock' instead of low. As near as I can tell, the front diff is as follows;
44-9F
409D8TA AFC
610040-3
now the rear
60
410 D8TA SC
603901 6 L S
What do I have and does it need any special care and feeding?
Only paid 300,the floor pans and bed floor are pretty much gone but the running gear seems to be ok.
Any input would be appreciated. Great site btw been much help already
Your front axle is a 4.09 geared high pinion Dana 44, and the rear is a 4.10 geared Dana 60. As for the transfer case, You likley have a NP 203 full time transfer case(not exactly gas mileage friendly).
