Well Ive owned my F150 XLT with a 5.4L for about a week now, and I couldnt help but notice how much slower it is compared to the 99 Navigator with Intech 5.4 32V which I just sold for it. Now they're both rated at 300hp and I know hp/tq numbers arent everything but it just seems much slower. Is the truck that much heavier than the Navigator? Or can it possibly be the gear ratios?
99' Navigator weighs in at 5500lbs
06 F150 weighs in at 4900lbs
What I noticed in the past couple days is that the transmission doesnt downshift the way the Navigator used to, I think its the shift point programmed into the computer thats making it feel sluggish.
What gear set you have in you 06 F-150? Only time I "feel" like I am lacking power is at low rpm. I am running 3.73ls with a 06 5.4l 3v scab. Then again I am coming from a 98 4.6L scab. I will agree the shifting bites on my 06 compared to my 98. My 98 felt like it had a little more "pep to her step".
I test drove and 06 SC XLT 5.4L with 3.55 gears and it was a dog. Mine with the 3.73 gears has plenty of pep. Someone may chime in about tuners, but that would fix your shift points from what I've heard.
I've also been told you can disconnect the neg battery cable for awhile, then let it "relearn" your driving style. Might help, IDK.
