Jim where did you get that DB2 boock you have i have a 6.9 db2 for AA injectors That I'm betting took out the rotor head due to a injector that wouldn't pop at the highest setting on our pop tester, 50,000PSI, and i'm intrested in taking it apart to see how it works and learn more about them and something like that book would be realy helpful.

I am look around at various electric pumps to use on my IDI DB2 pump . I didn't see any definite answer in the proceeding posts for the maximum inlet pressure for Stanadyne DB2 IP . How high can one go without affecting the performance or damagine the IP ? - Thanks

The consensus is that 5-6 psi is about right and there is no benefit to going higher. It hasn't been made clear to me how high is too high, but it's somewhere around 10 psi... but I really have very little solid info to base that upon.

Yeah well from experience, an over pressurized system will cause nothing but trouble. From leaks to advanced timing. When i swap out my ip coming soon, i will install the holley red to eliminate the issue. The factory intank pumps are way over pressure for our systems, but it will work with a relief tube, kind of like an advanced fuel return system. I tee'd off the main supply to allow for the excess pressure to flow around and back to the tank. This stopped alot of the problems. Only difference is that i have to block off that line when restarting after a filter swap, the fuel will just drain back down that relief line and not feed the pump but once its primed, it is solid. Rigged yeah i know, but soon the be eliminated.

My reason for asking is that I have run a across a good deal on almost new 12psi electric pump (heavy duty Mallory 4140 gerotor pump) . I wondered if it would be ok alone or I would need to add a bypass (aka return )pressure regulator .

research the carter p4070 first as mentioned here:

17k now on the green mr gasket #12D
(im a little surprised myself.the trick i really think was ditching that tiny filter before install,so it couldn't plug up.whenever it does finally die,it will be replaced with the carter mentioned above.i never run the tank dry, clean fuel, and a poly rust free tank.if it takes me down the road for 100k miles, you can bet i'll toss another one on her though.)
