i was cruizing down the highway with the cruze on 70 mph. going to the club with 2 of my buddies that are drunk, drinkin beer, and on probation, (tell me thats not illegal)im the DD. truck hasnt missed a lick in a couple months. and i went to change lanes, as soon as i hit my blinker, boom the truck was a rolling rock. cel comes on. i take it out of park and coast to the next exit so i can get off the highway and it wont start. i start pulling fuses, nothing burned out. i unplug my ipc sensor, still wont start. call a buddy, he is on his way. soon as he gets there, i try one more time, truck fires right up!! no problems. i plug my sensor back in and my transmission was shifting really hard for about the first 10 shifts, then it smoothed out and was fine, cel went off. that was thursday night andsince then i put about 500 miles on it and my truck hasnt missed a lick since then, i am leery of my cruize, but tried it out a couple times and hasnt screwed up yet! what happened to my truck? were the ford gremlins having a lil too much fun that night? or something more severe. my 3rd brake light still works so i know its not that
I don't know what is wrong with your truck but I'm interested in gears. I have 3.55's in my 97 now and would like 4.10's. Send me a personal message if you can help me out with parts and how much $$$. Thanks
Get out and check all your tail lights. Either one is burned out or more likely with the severity of your problem one of the light sockets back there is just fried out. Possibly shorted tail light wiring somewhere else too.
It's common for the 95-98 diesels to do a couple weird things when a back bulb is burned out. One thing they do is kick off the cruise. For example if you are on the cruise and set the turn signal to right turn and it kicks off then a bulb on the left is out. For a left turn then one on the right is out. IF it is all factory back there still.
Also with auto transmissions it normally unlocks the TC and you will feel it. I've seen it lock one down hard before too though at low speeds.
I never really looked into why they do this but I do remember something about common grounds with the transmission controls.
Just check out all the bulbs then try it again before investigating further.
