Hey yall got a question, my brakes lately have been very spongy, like i push the pedal and it doesnt do much untill i push it down pretty far and it feels very spongy, i was thinkin that this is just because there is air in the lines and i just need to bleed my brakes, is this a correct assumption? Also i want to know how air got in the lines and was told a while back that i had a leaky wheel cylindor, im guessing i should probably go ahead and replace that now, could that be the cause of the air in the lines?
If someone told you that you had leaky wheel cylinders, that would explain the spongy feeling.
You may have ran low on brake fluid allowing air in, or air could have came in through the leaky cylinder. Also, the brake shoes and drums are probably now coated in a light layer of brake fluid, so that would effect your pedal's resistance, and you don't have the pressure desired because the leaky cylinder is letting that pressure out as it builds.
The rear brake rebuild kit is fairly simple, just make sure you get it done soon. Otherwise, your brake master cylinder will need help shortly...
