Tranny Problem
I have a 1987 F-150 4X4 with a manual shift 3sp with overdrive trany(I guess that would make it a 4spd).
This should be a stupid question, but since 3 different FORD dealers cant answer this maybe its not a stupid question after all. I want to chage the fluid in this tranny. Can anybody tell me what fluid goes back into it. There is no drain plug so I cant just drain it to see what is in there. So before I siphon it out I want to know what to put back in. One dealer thinks it might be 80-90 gear lube the other two say mercon. But they arent sure and so some unknown reason cant find out for sure. The part number in my owners manual is no help to them either (dosnt come up in system) It says " Standard Transmisson Lube" in the owners manual. Anybody know this one ???
