mirrors

My 2001 SD has the Mickey Mouse mirrors. I would like to put on the towing mirrors. Will they fit through a 9 ft garage door with out folding?

According to the tech folder, the max width of a SD is 79.9 inches (non-dually), which is under 7 feet so yes.

That doesn't include mirrors, mine is about 8 1/2 ft with the small mirrors

My bad. I know its not for your 01, but the new 09 mirrors would put you at 99.6 inches or 8.3 feet with the mirrors out. That comes from the ford website. Are the older style mirrors 4.2 inches wider on each side? Sorry, but I don't know.

Check with FTE Parts Guy. Ford has a kit to retro your rig to the towing style mirrors. They fold front/back and telecope (manually). He can get you a good price. I can measure mine tomorrow if you want.
