I got this hankering to re-do my exhaust while my truck is all dissembled. My true dual has been a mistake since day one. It never gave me that deep growl that I wanted, and I miss my old cat back. Anyway I thought of an idea that would give me my one muffler back with plenty of air going into it. Check out the pics, and let me hear it. I will be leaving the pipes coming out of the headers alone, that way I dont have to buy doug thorleys expensive y-pipe.
You could also do what I did, which is similar to your scetch. If you want the deeper sound get a Super 40 Flowmaster. That is what I have now. It is not quite as loud as my old 40 but noticably deeper. Mine is deep and sounds mean. You could run 3 inch pipe from the Y pipe to a single in dual out muffler. Then run 2.5 for tail pipes with 3.5 or 4 inch tips.
Well, I did try an Super 40 dual inlet/dual outlet, and it just wasnt loud enough for me, then I went to the dual inlet/dual out let Cherry bomb extreme, and that was still loud, but still do "slappy" for me. I have tried every combination for a true dual, I even ran an h-pipe. So I think I just need to quit playing games with myself, and let go of my passion for a true dual, and get do semi-true dual
