Shifty Tranny

I have a 1990 E350 with a 4EOD tranny, the torque convertor went in my old tranny in the spring and I replaced the tranny and convertor. When I bought the truck last winter the O/D light always stays on and the switch does nothing. A tranny shop figured it is a switch problem. Also the tranny had to be manualy shifted from 3rd to 2nd and first didn't work at all. When I replaced the tranny the shop suggested that the shift problem could be in the plug (corrosion) so I changed it as well and metered the solinoids and all checked out. Power to the plug though is only about 3 volts (probably not enough). The new tranny has to be shifted manualy as well to second and third and first dosen't work very well. Could this be a computer problem or should I look else where. The solinoid clicks when gears are selected, but it is not the stock solinoid but a aftermarket that someone wired in.
Thanks for any ideas.

I would have to say that if someone was "wiring in" any other solenoids/etc. to the tranny, I'd just a soon replace all the transmission electrical rather than deal with finding the one faulty part. Just my $.02
