302 that needs more power

I have a 94 F-150 with a 302 and an auto trans. It is kind of a pooch and I want to hop it up a little. I was thinking headers, cam and maybe a couple other things. Just wondering what gets the best bang for the buck. What have you guys done and was it worth it? Also I was wondering what is the difference between mustang 302 and F150 302. I ask because I was looking at turbo kits for mustangs and figured I might be able to adapt it to my pickup.

For the most part it's the cam, intake, and exhaust system... the cam is larger, the intake is smaller, and the exhaust flows better. You can get as much or more HP from the truck motor with a cam and exhaust upgrades, but trucks also benefit from more gearing because they're considerably heavier than a mustang, so if you have anything bigger than stock tires and less than 4.10 gears start by upgrading the pumpkins.

Long tube headers with a good exhaust will help alot . Gearing . advance timing. A good low end cam with lots of lift..Lew

be sure to get the same make headers as exhaust system the hooker exhaust and dynomax headers don't fit well together lol and the dynomax exhaust fits alright but will hang down unless you modify it, i modified mine to come out the side infront of the rear wheel but took 4hrs to do the exhaust...

and yeah i would put a cam in it but while you have it that far apart port the heads it's not hard at all to do just be carefull on the lump in the exhaust cause there is a water passage down there, port match the intake manifold to the intake port on the head port match the header to the exhaust port

and don't let people tell you a 5.0 won't make a fast truck my truck ran 14.4 before i got my gears and nitrous and now i am hoping for 13s since i have 4.56 gears and a 125 shot

I'll throw on some headers and 4.10 gears to start with. How bad are the axles do to on the IFS trucks? I have torn down my 9 inch on my 79 mud truck about twenty times but those are built a bit different. I like this truck but I figured I had to do something because it wont even go seventy down the highway without at least half throttle and it hunts in and out of OD.
