CAM swap question

I am getting ready to install some comp cams in my mustang i was wondering if anyone ever swapped the stock cams from a 4.6 05 mustang engine to the 4.6 07 f150 engine...is it a really dumb idea or are they the same config anyways?

I am not sure if they are the same or not, probably not I think your f150 is a 2 valve and your mustang is a three. It would more than likely throw all kinds of engine codes.

I'm not speaking from any real knowledge, but I'm under the impression that most pick-up engines use cam shafts designed for lower rpm torque curves than passenger cars, especially a Mustang.

Why are you swapping cams in your mustang?
I'm assuming it's a 1996-2008 model with 4.6

unless you are going with Stage 3 stuff, ported polished stage 3 heads, a whole new intake, custom tuning and a few other goodies, you are effectively wasting your money IMO
the cams alone run about $2,000 last time I looked at 'em
That is why most anybody with the Mustang GT who needs alot more power ends up doing Forced Induction.
In terms of bang for the buck, traditional motor mods like cams/heads/intake are worthless. You can spend $3,000 to $4,000 and maybe gain 100 HP.

Versus spending $5,000 for a Blower/Pulley/Tune and putting down +200 HP in some cases

but yeah, I'd say it's a big negative on the 4.6 stuff fitting into your truck motor. maybe a 00-04 GT motor since it's a 2v, but not that 3v stuff.
