Have owned my 2006 F-350 6.0 crew/cab S/B Daullie since new. It is a work/pleasure truck and has been flawless. Yesterday started up going to work and heater fan was on HIGH...couldn't turn it off, tried everything....Today same thing...any ideas? and how to fix?
I have had this issue on other vehicles, so far no problem on my Super Duty, but usually the issue is the blower motor resistor that goes bad. It is the one that controls the different fan speeds and burns out over time and you only end up with high speed or sometimes two speeds instead of three or four.
I'd have to check my shop manual to see where this is located on our trucks. If I think of it, I'll check later today, but likely someone will jump in with the location before then.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was behind the glovebox somewhere up under the dash. That's where I found it on all the GM vehicles I've replaced it on, but there is no guarantee of that location.
Here's the part number....MOTORCRAFT Part # YH1697 {#4C2Z19A706AA} $12.32 Not an expensive part.
Is it a Lariat and/or does it have the EATC (electronic climate control)? If so, those head units have been prone to fail. I had it happen to mine. Took it in and it was replaced under warranty.
That's exactly what happened to mine. Took it in and the main head unit had gone bad. They replaced it under warranty. If you've got warranty on yours, take it in. If not, you might check with Ed / FTE Parts Guy. Great prices and he's a site sponsor.
I meant responses....OK I have it booked for Wed. and have the extended warranty....so we will see I guess. Truck has only 65K kms (about 40K miles). This the first time I will have had the truck to a dealer other than the odd servicing for maintenance. Its been great...love the truck and better yet, so does my wife.
Ditto that. Don't know what yours will cost you but it should be under warranty. I got the Premium Care with mine so it was just the $100 deductible I had to pay. Didn't take too long to do it either.
