it isnt hooked up its just laying in there to hold the belt in the normal location, now ive heard about gutting these and was wondering if anyone knew about it, ive searched and searched but came up with nothing, i am not gutting it to gain performance but to simply get rid of the racket it makes [sounds like a rod knocking] but it is indeed the smog pump. so how would i go about gutting this thing? thanks guys
Getting a shorter belt isn't that hard, simply take a piece of string and wrap it around the pulleys to determine the length in milimeters and go ask your local parts guy.
ok and its a 300 six, i didnt know if it would mess anything up due to all the other stuff going into it, just the cats are not hooked up and i was trying to see what had to be done thanks
hmm im not sure i don't know much about new gas motors my buddies is a 351w so im not sure on what your setup looks like (belts) if you do what conanski said that will work just fine and if you can't find one at an auto parts store goto a farm supply of some kind they have every belt you could ever think of.
