Ok, I have a 77 f-100 with a 302, and a 14" breather on it on top of a edlebrock 650 carb. The parts stores keep trying to give me the wrong K&N filter . Its about 4 " tall by 14" around , Any one know a part number i can give them , the computer keeps coming up with a 2" tall filter. any help would be appreciated.
Dale
With all due respect the guys at your parts store are morons, the K&N air filters are available in any configuration you want them, will they always be in stock? no, but they are available. 14" diameter is the most common aftermarket size there is, whether it be 2, 4 or 6" in height. Ask them to step away from their computers for 2min and just use some common sense.

Yeah go to a new parts store. Now Pep boys isn't known for a talented staff either, but my local pepboys has a full row of shelves with nothing but K & N filters on them. Pick your own off the shelf by yourself. Or you can go through Summit Racing or Jegs to ship you one out. They have them for sure.
When I get a dumb person @ the parts store I like to mess with them to point out the fact they are dumb. When they ask what vehicle, and what engine, One time I needed 2 1/4", 3 bolt triange exhaust gaskets so I said "1988 Chevy s-10, engine- 383 cid Tuned port V8, with a 6-speed", and they said they couldn't get them because its not in the computer! Haha classic. Every car company since the 40s has been using these generic gaskets! I love it!
