Ok gents, here is my issue. I bought a 2.5" leveling kit/spring pack for my 03 7.3 4wd. I got the axel dropped and the pack on with no problems, and that was where the fun ended. I am having total he!! trying to get the bolt through the leaf springs lined back up with the axel when I raise the axel. Is there a trick to this? I have tried it with the U-bolts off and on to no avail. I have used ratchet straps, crow bar and a whole lot of fowl language and still no luck. They are off by about 1/2" towards the drivers side. Do I need to remove the stabilizer bar or something else to allow it to shift to the right? Thanks in advance for any help.
Are you saying that both leaf springs won't sit in the center of the axle perches? So the axle is off to the drivers side by 1/2".
I doubt the sway bar is your problem.
Look at the panhard bar. This bar is located in front of the axle. It goes from the axle to the frame. You may have to disconnect this bar to get the axle to move that 1/2". Then put weight on the front after you get the spring bolted in and reconnect the bar.
that is the one that I meant, just wrong verbage, that is all that I can think of that would keep it form moving over. you dont happen to know the size of that nut offhand. I only have shallow sockets that big so will have to go pick up a deepwell when i get off work.
The bolt head is 18mm and the nut is 13/16". You may be able to get the frame mount bar end off with a wrench. Seems to be enough room to swing a wrench there unless you need more leverage with a longer breaker bar.
Outstanding, I appreciate the help. I was thinking about the big bolt, but it will be a lot easier to just remove the bracket. I will let ya know how it turns out. Thanks
