well this could be interesting. the 85-86 speed density wiring was different then 87-91. regardless you will need to locate a 5.8/C6 or 5.8/manual tranny computer. go to www.fordfuelinjection.com and locate your 86 wiring diagram and you will also need the 5.8 wiring diagram from 88-91. you will just need to repin the ecu connector to match the newer wiring/ecu which honestly isnt hard. the rest of the harness should hook right up. dont change the injector wiring at all, the plug wires will of course need to match the 95 5.8 firing order. what distributor are you using? this is very important so please let us know.
what tranny is in your 86? if its a C6 the 5.8 e4od flexplate will work fine. If you have an AOD tranny then you will need to get a 5.8/AOD flexplate from an 89 crown victoria with that engine/tranny combo. new these run about $60 bucks. dont try to find one at a wrecking yard 9 times out of 10 it will be the wrong one.
dont be spooked this is doable and we will help where we can.
i pretty much have everything from the 95 the entire wiring harness motor top to bottom. everything was left on it. the motor is in the 86 bolted up and ready to be wired. i have the computer also. im using whatever distributor came stock on the 5.8. i pretty much took it strait out of the 95 and put it to 86.thanks for the advise i will get the diagrams i need and go from there.
