Did these trucks come with an airbag or have the option of having an airbag in the 90's? It looks as if i could put one in my truck, ford left room and there are 2 threaded holes behind the steering wheel cover.

I believe airbags were made mandatory in 95. Ford did put airbags in passenger vehicles before then, but not in trucks until 95. I imagine, if you had all the components needed for the airbag system, you could retofit one in. Ford would have had to design in the "space" for the airbag system early on knowing that it would be made mandatory in 95.

 

air bags are for sissy real men get in a wreck fly threw the wind sheild get up and jump back in there ford trucks and drive off

that's funny, i've always called it a canopy too. I assume you're talking about the truck cap or topper as people out east and elsewhere seem to call it.

 

Air bags weren't mandatory in trucks until '98 at the earliest.

 

I'm not sure what years but I know they were different years between 1/2 and later on the 1 tons were mandatory. I never heard of anybody wanting to put one in.

 

haha yupp canopy out western canada thats what we call em , also their are 3 company that make them in my town. arrow, rawhide, and rangerider.

 

so, do any of you guys think i can retrofit one on? has any one on the forum here ever done this? how hard is it? i imagine there is moderate amount of wiring involved.

 

u need a new pcm and senors and it not worth it like my early post real men dont need air bags

 

I'm thinking it would be a pain. But I always say with enough time and money anythings possible.

 

im just curious why you'd want to put an air bag in your truck

i do that all the time u dont need a air bag that just slows u down
