Most basic motor swap question.

So I have a inline 6 300ci motor with the manual four speed (t-18?) and I'm looking for a V8 with an automatic trans. I'd like to know what the most basic motor and trans swap would be for this application. It's going into a 1965 F100 2WD Step side. I just don't have a ton of room and I have just basic shop tools so I don't want to go buy a bunch of crap to get a new motor in.

Thanks for the help guys!

352 or 390 and c6. Problem is you will also have to change the column or get a floor shifter for an auto. You will need to buy or rent a engine lift either way. I'm not an expert on motor and trans mounts so someone else will need to answer that.

You could put a 302 in, and bolt it to the existing trans/bellhousing.

bub, in your case getting another truck could be easier, and cheaper unless you have some kind of attachment to the truck. IMHO

Engine & tranny swapping is a pretty major undertaking.
