Super Duty registration in Ohio

Some folks have said the F350 can be a lot more expensive to register... I didnt realize there was that big of difference between the F250 or 350 but I dont know how much either would cost because I only have a 150 currently. Anyone tell me what the registration prices run here? Thinking about getting a new superduty this year, kinda leaning toward the 350 since I haul more weight than I tow.

I think the differents is that a 250 can run non com. plates and a 350 are truck plates. and for truck plates you pay on the weight of the truck.I would call the bmv in your county.

I ran non comm on my '99 and '00 F350's(crewcab, drw). Not very legal actually since I was pulling a 14K# trailer with it!! Nobody asked at DMV, I didn't tell.

I'll have to call the dmv I guess... I dont even know where one is in my county yet (Morrow). If I get a chance I'll look it up tonight at work. Guess I need to really see what the capacity difference is between the 250 and 350. I dont plan on towing much, maybe a camper but the reason I was looking at the 350 was for hauling firewood in the bed. My friends were saying there isnt hardly any difference in cost with the 350 and to just go ahead and get it, but if there is a big difference with registration well, guess I'll have to see what the difference is.

Can F450s and F350s really not be registered as non-commercial vehicles in Ohio? Not for towing RVs or other personal uses?

I was able to register non-commercial truck plates for an F-450 in Ohio. 3/4- and 1-ton trucks cost more than 1/2-ton and lower trucks, but it worked out. But I had to visit multiple BMV locations to get it worked out. Depends on who you get on the counter sometimes. I'm not running a profitable business, and my two trailers are 10k or less.

Funny thing about this crap in Ohio - my previous '97 F250HD was 'over 8500GVW' yet I had cheap 'non-comm' plate rate. My buddy has a '95 F250 4x4 8500+GVW and got the cheap 'non-comm' plates. My current '95 F250 'over 8500' somehow got shafted with some notation on the title requires plates that cost twice as much, but do not say 'truck' on them. Huh??? . No good explanation from title- or license bureaus. I asked. Just another 'BOHICA' from the State... I'm NOT amused...
