I have '85 F150 2WD 5.0 EFI that won't fire up. I've changed coil, PIP sensor, ICM, dist cap, rotor button, TPsensor and EEC. Engine rotates, voltage checks ok,but no flashing test light when cranking. Ohms ok except neg coil (green wire) doesn't read. Traced wires found no breaks. No.2 wire on ICM ties together with coil wire, then there a (I guess) a resistor inline to the EEC. HELP, I'm lost. Been using Haynes book.
you definitely have no spark from the coil? Sometimes its hard to tell if a test light is flashing. CHeck at the coil while cranking, hold a grounded wire or screwdriver to the coil tower
Check the resistance of the Dark Green/Yellow Wire, with it unplugged from the coil, the TFI-IV module and EEC.
You should have continuity, using a Ohm Meter, zero resistance, between the coil connector, the TFI-IV connector, and the EEC connector, on the dark Green/ yellow wire.
Read codes, that is why i replaced those items. resistance checks with the ICM and coil unplugged reads 0.02 Ohms . haven't unplugged EEC to check end to end. Hopefully that will work . I'll let you know tomorrow evening. My EEC is located underdash to the right of steering wheel next to the radio. Need to get a length of wire to work with.
Have you read the codes after you changed those parts? If you still have the same codes, you might have a wiring problem, or you might want to unplug and plug back in the computer in case it has a corroded connection in the plug.
