my 77 f-150 has started right up for the last 3 months all of the sudden it will not crank. battery is fine and it is getting gas. it just will not turn over. were should i start?
Catch it while it's failing, don't be messing around. :)
Holiver's idea is a good one tho and if it clears up on you while messing
with that part, it won't hurt anything, but the trouble could be anywhere
and without a meter you won't know where that is.
If it clears up on you, it's really cool, right up until it comes back. ;)
I'm assuming you have electronic ignition. Check and make sure that none of your wires have gotten chafed or broken. If those appear to be OK, your coil or control module may have gone bad.
Okay, do this simple test. Leave the coil connected. Connect a test light from the negative side of the coil, to ground (unpainted metal on the engine). Use the key to crank the engine over. The light should BLINK. Post your results.
