First place to look is where your meter is. ;)
If you ain't got one...
While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at CSK Auto

Catch it while it's failing, don't be messing around. :)

Holiver's idea is a good one tho and if it clears up on you while messing
with that part, it won't hurt anything, but the trouble could be anywhere
and without a meter you won't know where that is.

If it clears up on you, it's really cool, right up until it comes back. ;)

Oh, I get it now, you meant "it will not fire" instead of crank. :)
{edit: Ooops I was still in "it just will not turn over." mode. :/}

Switching gears...
Got a service manual and a meter? ;)

I'm assuming you have electronic ignition. Check and make sure that none of your wires have gotten chafed or broken. If those appear to be OK, your coil or control module may have gone bad.

Okay, do this simple test. Leave the coil connected. Connect a test light from the negative side of the coil, to ground (unpainted metal on the engine). Use the key to crank the engine over. The light should BLINK. Post your results.

Do not automatically assume the DuraSpark module is bad.

There's the stator aka pickup coil inside the dizzy...and the problem can be caused by one...or both.

D4PZ12A112A .. Stator (Motorcraft DU1A) / Fits: ALL 1974/79 cars/trucks with DuraSpark (except '79 LTD's with EEC).

1U2Z12A199AA .. Ignition Module ~ BLUE (Motorcraft DY893) / 1U2Z12A199AA replaced: D9VZ12A199A.

Fits: 1976/79 F100/350 & Econoline, 1978/79 Bronco (except CA vehicles).

Also fits the 1976/79 cars, and some cars/trucks thru the 1990's.
