how often does your truck regen??

ever since i got my truck reflshed it has gone into regen every 150 miles or so.. which i think is way to often.. the truck runs great and gets great milage.. but once the regen kicks in it shoots my avarge mpg for the tank. no performance loss during regen. it will still pull my trailer at 80 mph. just regens to often and shoots my milage for the tank. just wondering how often u guys are experincing regens?/ thanks

On long highway trips it regens around 400 miles. Mix driving is 300 miles. That's w/ each regen to finish w/o interuption. Now if it is interupted (shutting the truck down when in regen) then it various until it starts to finish the regen when it left off.

Once per tank here as well.. but then again, only on my 4th tank with about 750 miles (mostly mixed with no towing yet).. so my history is rather short..

How do you know when truck is in regen,I have 6,900 hundred miles on my 08 crew dually 430 gear and have never noticed any difference in the way it runs or any indicator on dash that it's in regen.I had the 08b07 reprogram pcm & inst/cluster done at dealer 1,000 miles ago and no change in truck.

I don't think you have the latest program on your truck. I have a Job 1 and after the last reflash I get a message that truck in in regen that lasts for 15-20 minutes.

My truck regens about every 150-200 miles towing a 14k load.

Without a load about every 3/4 of a tank for about 10-15 minutes at 65-70mph. Haven't towed after reprogramming.

Get it reflashed again, they didn't use the right version of the flash.

Mine was at every 200-250 miles. Since the AFE CIA, it's every 700 miles. My truck runs just fine w/ out the latest flash so I ain't gunna do it. I know when it regens, so I don't need a message to tell me what I already know.

When I tow, varies on the weight, can be once every 100 miles, never more than that. When empty, once per tank is about right. Folks have different styles, climates, use of fuel additives, terrain. All this stuff changes around the amount of soot your engine will puke out.

Accelerating hard with a cold engine/exhaust, like going to work in the morning and stuff like that.

Nobody will encourage you to baby your 6.4, actually the opposite. Get it hot as often as possible and you'll burn less fuel and the regen cycles will be as productive as they can be.

I average about 300 miles between regen cycles, but my regen frequency depends on three things:

1. type of driving done - If I do a lot of short runs, where the engine is cold a lot, my regen cycles shorten. This is due to the colder engine putting more soot in the exhaust.
2. brand of diesel in truck - If I use Shell diesel, my truck does not go into regen as often as when I use diesel from WalMart.
3. age of oil in crankcase - As my oil gets more miles, regen cycles occur more often. After I change the oil, the regen cycles get further apart. One of the major differences in the CJ-4 oil specification is the soot-carrying abilities. As the oil gets older, it cannot handle as much soot, and it ends up in the exhaust filter.

freakyfx4, im going to test your theory about the oil. just had mine changed (had it in there for 14k) and amazingly it was still clean!! but i figured at 14k id change it anyway haha. so we will see if that helps. also, did my 30k servive today and although the oil looked great. the tranny fluid was shot! i was amazed at how trashed it was! check it often guys!!

also, im really hoping these new fluids are just what my truck needs.. just in this last week my milage has gone from: 21 to 17 at 65mph. and from 13.8 to 10.8 tank average (lie o meter) hopefully it was the dirty fluid and not the reflash...

Mine has been between 300 and 320 and now I changed from straight number 1 diesel to number 2 and the first time it went into regen at 225 don't know if its the fuel or not will see the next time.
