Transfer case questions

so my transfer case is making a clunk when shifting forward to reverse and also sounds like a chain stretching when first starting off i drained the fluid and found some metal what do you think this could be also what kind of case is this what year trucks had this case in them. should i replace or rebuild any help would be greatly appreciated

i've heard the rebuild on these isn't too difficult to do at home, the metal parts found when draining is almost never a good thing and the stretching???? chain? I know there is a chain in the case but don't think you could hear it stretch, if so that is most certainly a bad thing. I would look into a rebuild as opposed to replacing. someone else should be able to shed some more light on that issue for you

Yeah its something that makes like a clicking noise when torque is applied i'm guessing the chain but could be bearing maybe?
