Opinions? Anyone?
Like my brother in law`s nephew, he got a truck but he needs a new one cause he burned up the transmision in it street racing. Not to mention he was asking his grandfather for four new tires for christmas. This kid didnt pay for a thing on the truck he didnt even buy it.
Now me on the other hand (23 btw) I got my vehicles with my own money and I paid for everything myself. Never borrowed money for gas (even though I wasnt working at the time I was just good at limiting what I spend money on) and I have yet to break one thing in my vehicles. Mainly because I drive them hard but I dont drive them like a nutcase. I know the limits of thevehicles and what they can and cant do.
That is where you are a safe driver when you know how quick your vehicle can stop in an emergency without sliding the tires, or how the car acts when you fish tail or slide the back in when making a turn, ect. Its the same stuff they teach you at those driving schools but for free. I will admit I do race other cars once in a blue moon but its not organized, its not for money and its on deserted streets with no intersections.
So what ever you do you can buy old or buy new if you dont maintain and take care of the vehicle things will break. Like wise things break regardless but the dont break as often if you do like most people and think all you do to a car is put gas in it and go.
So the last decision I have is should I do like my cousin did and get a decent truck that I know wont break all the time and spend quite a bit of money on it as my daily driver then make a truck for muddin? (He has a older F150 with a big block in it and he currently doesnt have the money, but I know he's adding a lift and big tires and also painting it, but I am not sure what else)
Or should I just buy a vehicle and then kind of compromise and just get stock size mud tires w/o a lift or something along those lines? Personally I think i'd be better off doing something like my cousin did and getting something that gets decent gas mileage for every day driving and then spend like $800.00 (Or somewhere around there) on a older truck to turn into a muddin truck? That way would take more time and all, but I personally would enojy it a lot more and would probably learn more.
Rusty, I am the exact same way as you, except I have a summer job and I occasionally get to work for my dads company. I have had to earn litterally almost everything i've got I never get loans for gas money or insurance either.
Againg guys, thank you for your help and wisdom, it is greatly appriceated.
P.S. I am 16.
But on my 82 F150 though I got 38 tall M/S tires and they were pricy but ive been driving on the same tires since 2004.
So I would say you can get the truck and get a lifted look by going with taller than stock tires. But too tall and they rub when your suspesion compresses and rebounds.
