clutch position switch
I have started having random trouble with starting. It has failed to start when I turn the key now in the afternoons the last few days. This morning I got up and it started fine. I started checking things per Haynes, and the starter relay would not spin the starter, so I replaced it. Now, it does not want to start again. I got into the dash and checked the starter ignition switch, and there is continuity in the different positions as required. I also checked voltage across the battery cables and down to the starter, no drop. The only thing I am not sure how to check is the clutch position switch. I have checked the wiring harness side and get voltage at a couple of the six connections. I am not sure how or what to check on the switch side. I would have just replaced it, but the parts store does not have it in stock and before I order, I wanted to rule out any other possibilities. Thanks for the help.
I went out and tested the switch side of the clutch pedal position indicator and got infinite on each pair of the six. I then tested with the pedal in and it only changed on the pair closest to the fire wall. I think this is the cruise control switch indicator.

It may be a broken wire at the CPP switch. Tug on the wires down there a bit and see if any of them want to stretch the insulation on the wire out a bit. If there is one that doesn't feel solidly connected, then you have found a broken wire. Good luck!
