I know that shocks don't change the way my truck should ride but when I changed the worn out shocks, 140,000 miles, to " Gabriel gas shocks, it now rides like a cement truck. I can't find regular shocks, everything is gas charged. Looking for someone to point me in the right direction.
It will be diicult to find a shock that is not at least in part gas filled. You might try KYB GR-2. Although they are gas and have the same psi as the gas-a-just counter parts, they are built similar to the edelbrock EAS (much less expensive), where they have an adjustible valve that during normal vehicle operation reduces the stiffness and when demand requires it, it becomes stiffer- so to speak. The best prices are typically found at PST (Performance Suspension Technology) website.
Also, many times the type of tire on a vehicle can induct the "truck-like" ride- such as Bridgstone. While they are a very good, well built tire, their ply design creates a very rough ride (where you think you feel every pebble in the road).
I believe Gabriel has a similiar type shock, they might even consider toding a partial exchange- you never know!
