That article made it sound as if our trucks can't use vegetable oil based biodiesel. That's not true. People have been running as high as B100 without any modifications to the truck. It is when one wants to run straight WVO that trucks have to be modified.

not really a first

That article is not wholly accurate in terms of it's implication that this is the first relevant certification for a bio fuel. Solazyme has had an industrial certification for a while now. Solazyme's algae diesel ready to hit the road | Green Tech - CNET News

"Backyard brews" are ok for a 7.3, but not so good for a common rail engine, IMO.
Or even for a 6.0.
I'm glad to see some sort of progress being made in this arena.
Now as long as it doesn't make the price of fuel double..........
