The Ford dealer that I will be taking my 2004 F250 to suggested having my fuel injection system cleaned by pouring chemicals into the fuel rails and running the engine. Is this a good idea? Will it damage anything?
If you run only name brand top tier gasolines, really no need as they have good additive packages in them already.
If you regularly buy "unknown" fuels from whoever is cheapest, then it is worth considering every 50-100K miles or so - especially if you've noticed a decline in fuel economy.
IT's probably a motorvac or Petro-chemicals mix and both are pretty decent. I can't see it doing any harm, and you might eek out a tiny bit of economy and performance with it.
I just run some seafoam through a vacuum line and some in the tank.
I'm 52 years young I have never needed any such thing ever..They make great products like seafoam you put in your tank once every 2 years or so...Dealers are ripoffs..scams.
hate em...
Thanks for all of the responses. I decided not to have the fuel injection system cleaned and will instead use some of the gas treatments mentioned. The engine runs fine and it seems to make sense not to mess with it.
