1967 chevy half ton tranny swap question

Why not swap in a 5 speed out of a newer truck then you would have OD. A buddy of mine is putting one in his 67 Chev pickup, came of of a 92 1/2 ton.

I have one of the nv4500 light duty's out of a chevy in my 72chevy C10 with a 5.9 Cummins with 3.08 rearend does sweet on mpg 30 mpg easy and still alls as--

Ever thought about throwing in a th400 or th350 with a manual valve body? If you cant shift a 3 on the tree, why not get rid of the whole clutch-dilema all together and go with an automatic? A ratchet shifter can be ALMOST as fun as a MT truck.
