I just put a new waterpump, hoses and a thermostat in my 99 7.3 and i filled it up with regular preston antifreeze (not the 50/50) from walmart/ Is this the wrong antifreeze or will this be o.k. I live in the south (alabama)

The diesel needs the additive to prevent cylinder caviatation. The cavitation is microscopic bubbles that form on the wet side of the cylinder walls due to rapid expansion and contraction of the cylinder walls during the combustion cycle.
I use Fleet (RED) antifreeze from NAPA for Mac, Cat. and it exceeds the Ford spec. The additive is included in it when you buy it.
Check your owners manual spec for what you bought to see if it meets the Ford spec. I would reco you stay with antifreeze that meets the Ford specs.
There is a difference between auto and diesel antifreeze due to the high compression ratios in the diesel.
I hate saying this but I made the same mistake. You need to get that regular prestone out of there and flush it and put in an antifreeze that meets the specs of a diesel engine preferably an Extented Life Coolant(ELC) I used Cat 50-50 because they didn't have anything else at the moment. Fleetguard ELC is good too. Most truck stops got it, good luck.

I was as polite as possible. But I drained the green stuff after the transmission shop helped me out by draining my Red. So when I got it home I drained the green and bought Fleetguard ELC at NAPA.
