She Lives!

Just got my truck back from my mechanic today. Rebuilt heads, new gaskets, new distributor, new ignition coil, and i still got a leak in my radiator. She runs a lot smoother than she did (not having a massive hole in the head gasket might have something to do with that) but she idles alot faster than when i took her in. im gonna fiddle with the carb tomorrow and see if i cant slow her down some. The thing is, when i installed the carb (edelbrock 600) the idle adjustment seemed a bit short. i had it out as far as it would go, but the truck still idled faster than i like. Not a whole lot, mind you, just a bit. any ideas?

You might want to disconnect the throttle linkage then start it. I've seen linkage that was too short or binding that wouldn't allow an engine to come back to idle. Also the wrong carb gasket or mismatched carb/intake combo can do the same thing.

Kinda feel like an idiot....my throttle linkage is adjustable. i just popped the ball joint off the carb and screwed out the linkage and viola! smooth, low idle.
