Wacked out electrical
'99 V-10 Gas
Stopped in at Sam's to get gas on the way home from State Band trip in Abilene, TX. When I went to start the truck I got a click like the solenoid trying to fire the starter then all went weird.
The gauges and dash lights went goofy...on off up down. I shut off the ignition and checked...I don't know what I checked, just checked to see if anything was out of whack.
Turned on the key again...similiar thing and now the wipers are trying to, slowly, cycle...and the wipers are not on.
Battery! I think. Get under the hood, clean the terminals and reattach. Now everything is still goofy and the dome lights are blinking like they are on the hazard flashers.
Started checking everything I could think of. Wiring harness (where I could see or get to it), fuses, even took the battery into Sam's and they tested it good.
Had the truck towed to a (closed) shop, the driver dropped us off at a hotel (full) and we walked a quarter of a mile to the next hotel.
We're afoot, stranded three hours from home.
Can you help diagnose the problem. We are at the mercy of the shop and feeling pretty down and out. I hope y'all can at least give me some piece of mind.
Sorry I can't help diagnose your problem. Good luck, hope you get home safely. My prayers are going out for you.
Oh, you might also post in the Texas chapter forum.
A tad irritating and embarrassing since I would have figured it out if I was at home. Being 3 hours from home pulling the band trailer at 7:00 at night doesn't lend to having the opportunity to check everything over properly...even though I should have checked that connection early.
All's well that ends well.
Thanks for the support.
