Intake differences

Got a question for you all. I have an early 04 F350. Built in July 03. I got an SCT tuner from Elite diesel and decided to go with the CFM+ intake package that they offered. I went to install the intake but it was not even close. The bolt pattern is different and it had an O ring vice the gasket supplied with the intake.

What gives? I recently had the EGR cooler replaced under warranty and had they even ordered the wrong EGR cooler. Is this related? I am not really too upset about not being able to use the CFM+ intake, (eBay will always find someone who wants one) but I kind of want to know what parts I have on my truck.

Help?

There was a intake shape change in 04. The intake in 03 early 04 was connected under the turbo, the 04 and is u shaped there is no connection at the back. The updated intake makes HPOP repairs much easier as you do not have to remove the intake.I moded mine some time ago.

The 2003 intake is a big U, later in 2004 the intake changed with a cross over in the rear. The turbo pedestal is different on 2003 also.

Click Here The intake uses a throttle body, yours may not have the throttle plate but the body is there. If you removed the throttle body, that is why your new intake will not fit.

This is the 03 it is connected under the turbo. http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60...l/ps60_019.jpg IIRC the crossover was eliminated in late build 03 and up.

.This is the change that is in question though, 2005 Update Page 06 Exhaust Up pipe Scoop-Intake Manifold Divider Plates-EGR Throttle Plate Your intake could have been swapped for a later version without the cross over. The bolt pattern not working I have no idea if it was changed but didn't think, but will try and find out.
