On start, will sometimes have a foghorn type sound. A rev will make it go away, but not always. Temperature doesn't seem to have a big affect because it will make the same noise at a stoplight in 85 degree heat. It's not a belt or bearing for sure. Sounds more like it's in the air, power steering, brakes, etc. Any ideas?
I have the same issue. Mine does it normally when it's cooler/cold out. After it's warmed up. Mostly at low RPM or at idle. I can cover the hole at the side of the air filter housing and it will lessen the volume but won't stop it. Same deal, give it a rev or two and it will stop most the time. BTW, 03 F250, about 10,000 miles.
Absolutely. I keep the trip meter on, may be actually 10,600 or so. Just recently became a daily driver. Most of it's life has been that of a garage ornament.

O'K, was making the noise again today. On idle, put my hand on the plastic cover on the intake. Had a rapid, pulsating vibration which is odviously making the noise. Sound like air or fluid running through a diaphragm or something like that. Gave it some gas, noise gone, vibration gone, running smooth as silk.
Could it be a bad Idle Air Control Valve? Seems like it would run rough on idle if that were true. The motor runs fine, but just occasionally makes the sound and has that vibration.
I popped the rubbery snout off mine long ago thinking that would help. It didn't. I never put it back on. I posted about this a couple years ago. I think Krewat, or Monsta suggested the IAC back then. Since it was garaged, I never moved on it. Now that it's out of warranty, I want to be sure what it is before I start throwing money at it. It is very puzzling.
