the carb is a carter auto choke. for some reason its burning through fuel, sometimes when i try to take off in first, it acts like its getting ready to die, almost like the carb is flooding? im not sure whats going on. and i cant seem to find the air to fuel mixture screw. Can SOMEBODY help me! this is my last big problem.. the rest are just gaskets.. also found out about the brakes... Brake line was kinked causing the pressure to not relieve itself.. fixed brake line and new brakes ran me 185. not to shabby
Can anyone help me! i really love this truck to death, as a matter of fact i was dicking arounf with the spark plug wires because i thought i had them backwards.. come to find out i messed it up!
are there wires going to your carb, does your distributor not have a vacuum advance.then you prob have a feed back carb. if you have no wires except for choke(1 wire) and ther is a vacuum hose going to you distributor then it' should be a regular carb.
well i know it has a Automatic choke, theres rubber hoses coming off of it. and theres actually this little clip that comes off the choke that looks like it plugged into somewhere at one point but doesnt now.
I dont think there is a vacuum hose going to my Distributor...heres my other thread that shows 2 good pics. should give you a better idea.
your choke may not be opening.with your engine warm does your choke open.if your choke is not opening that will cause a rich condition. also check all of your vacuum lines as well.vacuum leak can cause stumbling as well.take some pictures if you can.
look at that post above... it had pictures.. the choke stays open all the time. they got some type of cheap wire and rigged it so it wraps around the auto choke and it stays open.
looks like you have the feed back carb.i don't have any experience with them.i usually ditch that stuff.prefer simple carbs.i believe that carb is controlled buy a computer that adjusts your air fuel mix and ignition timing.there are guys here that have a lot of experience with these.
well if you look at those pics.. lots of stuff is disconnected that shouldnt be. i have no idea where anything goes. and my hayned manual doesnt show me much. i just saaw a pic of my exact engine and i see lots of things connected that should be on mine that arent!

Sounds like things are already pretty messed up. Feedback carbs NEVER worked well, and certainly won't work without EVERYTHING hooked up right and maintained purfectly. Thus my strong suggestion is to ditch the entire thing. Get yourself a regular carb and distributor, and go from there. It will be so hard to keep your stock stuff working well it's just not worth doing, it's so much easier to just ditch it. And you'll get more power and mileage while your at it if done right.
Get yourself a Holley 2300 and a earlier stock distributor. And if you still have a catalytic convertor it will have to go, thus no need for any air pump, so it can go. You'll need to do some wiring for the distributor, but when your done all you'll have left that you need to keep is 1 vacuum line(maybe two if you keep the EGR), 1 wire on the choke, and three wires for the ditributor, the rest can go.
