5th wheel?
Well here's the situation.
We're looking at a 95 F350. We're going to put a flatbed on it and get a trailer to be able to haul heavier loads. We're trying to decide between a gooseneck and a 5th wheel.
I've done a lot of reading and have found opinions both ways.
My thinking is this: They use 5th wheels on tractor trailers so why is it not good on a smaller truck?
We'd be going up to or above 15,000lb payload on the trailer. That'd make it so we could haul our small finish dozer on it instead of having to break out the lowboy.

Go with a gooseneck it is much nicer to deal with than a 5er. The only two advantages I have found with a 5er. 1. Tall loads (12' and higher) are much more stable. 2. Long flatbed trailers (40-50') have a lot of flex and a 5er helps steady it.
