Trans problem wont shift into 3rd
I bought this truck the other day knowing it had trans issues, it's a 95 f250 4x4 auto powerstroke, when I got it the o/d light was flashing and you could only shift it manually from 1st to 2nd, I cleand the VSS and disconected the batterys and now the light is off and it shifts on it's own but wont go higher than 2nd gear and sometimes it revs high before it goes into 2nd but if I start out and get on it a little it shifts quicker.
Any ideas the trans fluid was a little low and smell like burnt electrical but I topped it off and still no change, is my TC fried or possibly and electrical issue, I should have gotten the codes checked but I'm afraid to drive it anywhere, plus it will only go about 35 in 2nd. Does it sound like it's still in limp mode but then wouldn't the O/D light come back on????
