Hey Danlee, since you are one of te most if not the most experienced guy with these engines around here, i have a question, what would happen if a 400 is ran with no thermostat? would it overheat?

Yes, most vapor lock occurs where the fuel line crosses the hot motor. Some people wrap the fuel line with aluminum foil to prevent the engine heat from reaching the fuel.

Without a tstat or with the wrong tstat the back cylinders can become starved for coolant, because most of the coolant short circuits and returns to the radiator. This will eventually result in head gasket failure in the rear cylinders,
