What does the factory Tow Package include and how can I tell if it has the Tow Package? Is there something on the door jam label that will indicate it?
In 99 it consisted of payload package-2, which was stiffer springs & heavy duity shocks, the 4X4 got premium HD shocks, a tranny cooler, larger tires & I'm not sure but I believe a higher output alternator & larger radiator.
I also opted for the class-3 Factory frame mounted hitch, who's design I liked, + it was covered in the factory warranty too.
I also added an aftermarket "cushioned ball mount" by Convert-A-Ball, which really smooth's out the tow's jerks & jars, so the driveline appreciates that.
My factory build sheet indicates what was put in, don't believe the door sticker goes that far..
You also get the hitch and a pig tail. The reason I included these parts, believe it or not. My wife purchased an 06 jeep liberty. On the window sticker, it said tow package, but there was no hitch or pig tail on the jeep. The salesmaen said it did have the towing package, which included. bigger tranny cooler, a bigger amp altenator blah, blah and so on. But you have to order the hitch, which then would have came with the pig tail. We need wonder why chrysler is going under ha ha!!!
