Hot Starter Problems?

This really urks me. mainly because shes an automatic and not push startable and i can get stranded. when the truck is cold or warm the starter cranks great. but when i go to the store and its hot its hard to start. sometimes i have to wait 10 minutes to cool down, other times it happens to spin barely fast enough and she fires up. do i need to start thinking about a new starter? or maybe just wrap my headers?

You could always move up here to Wisconsin where summer only last 3 weeks! It will cool off quicker.

hey dave,i wrapped my starter instead, cover the whole thing, including the back side were the bearing is towards the front of the truck.when i start it hot or cold it spins great.its a pain but its worth it.

You don't even have to cover the back....

The "racing blanket" I ordered just wrapped and velcroed...but you should replace the starter and start with a new wrapped one...

It's a known fact that headers cook the starters....
