wiring harness advice
I have a 1977 (highboy) F-250. It has a 460, dura shock ignition, bed from a 78. There are no other mods to anything electrical.
I was having some head light problems and as I peeled back the onion I realized almost every inch of wire was one of 2 colors. red or black. Literally from head light to tail light some one used red for power and black for grounds. Instead of messing with it I decided I am just going to get a new wiring harness. I was hoping I could get some advise on where to find a wiring harness for a '77 f-250. I have heard lots of good stuff about EZ or painless wiring harnesses but want to ask the experts. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Seth
__concer with those two.
They may a little pricey,
but it's like it's said.
"You only get what you pay for."
& you get your money's worth,
with these two.
As personnal choice, I'd go with Ron Francis.
__all depends on the amount of work you want to be involved in.
Used;
__Pro's: Affordable. Mostly plug'n'play. Will be easy to install.
Can use standerd wire diagrams, no need to adapt.
__Con's:Old. May not be intact,& might require repair.
Out of date coded wiring, could cause failure/fire.
Hard to locate one that is of good use.
New;
__Pro's: New.(duh.) Good kits are mostly complete, & well marked.
Easy to work with, can call some company's & have custom work
done for you. Updated, & certified wiring used.
__Con's: They don't make your model/year of vehicle.
May need to adapt wire diagrams, or make/use new one.
Lots of planning is required, before installing.
Some parts arn't available, need to use old one's or
source out N.O.S. parts to finish. Or just adapt new parts.
I also used a Painless for my 76 Bronco body wiring. It also was well marked easy to use, but don't let the name fool you. You will work at it
and expect a full weekend!! At Least!
